Hi all!
My name is TJ, I am 21 years of age, and someone who has a real issue with making things as simple as possible for myself!
As you may have been able to tell, I myself am a current Archaeology student - studying Classical Archaeology and Ancient History at Royal Holloway University of London, with heavy interest in bioarchaeology.
A history of this project: Part of a marked project in my second year required us to create a website, model ext. relevant to a particular topic we covered within a module.
I decided to cover "Issues in Classical Archaeology", specifically focused on student accessibility. Between this course coverage, and a previous conference by Academus Education (in which I had the delight of being a panellist on!) - it has come to my attention that I am not alone in struggling to find relevant (yet affordable) fieldwork, museum, and course experience to further myself in this field.
As students, we are not alone.
And so, it is my aim to turn what should have been just a marked assignment, into something that can be accessible and helpful to students across Britain. (and why not elsewhere whilst I'm at it?)
My hopes is that, as a archaeological community, we can reach out and help one another. Amazing websites such as BJAR help to find archaeological jobs and experience outside of university and graduation - why not make one for us students too?
Together we can help each other find resources - make friends and connections - gain as much experience as we can...
But ill need all the help I can get :)
And so, if you are interested in what I am trying to achieve, and wish to help, I would be delighted to get in contact with you, or feel free to head over to "add post" to let everyone else know of any experiences or helpful resources going!
My Twitter is @TheyAreTyler, and my personal email is Tjekelly@gmail.com, if you so wish to contact myself outside of the "add post" Function!
Thank you for joining me on this journey, and I really hope it helps someone out there.
TJ
I found this website extremely helpful!
