Surrey Archaeological Society

General Information Foremostly a charity supporting the study of the archaeology and history of the county of Surrey. We hold regular lectures and conferences, as well as publishing annual Collections, a regular Bulletin (Surrey's Past) and a monthly e-newsletter by email.


What do they do? The Society has several Special Interest Groups, specialising in certain periods or areas including:

  • Roman Studies

  • Prehistoric

  • Surrey Industrial History

  • Artefacts and Archives

  • Surrey Local History

  • Medieval Studies Forum

The Society additionally has the best specialist archaeological library in the county, and holds a valuable archive of Surrey material, and publishes several regular journals as well as books about Surrey archaeology and history.


The society regularly holds and advertises events within the community that cover a range of topics and interests - All Society events are open to members and non-members.

Costs?

Junior Membership: who must normally be more than 16 but less than 21 years old at the date of application, pay an annual subscription of £6.00. On reaching the age of 21, Junior Members may become Student or Ordinary Members without any further formality.


Student Membership: who are more than 21 but less than 26 years old at the date of application, pay an annual subscription of £12.50. To qualify for Student Membership applicants must be in full-time education (in any subject). Go to https://www.surreyarchaeology.org.uk/ for more information!
